Unforgettable concert by Cat Power last Saturday, at the small but cozy Kilbi Festival in Düdigen (FR), Switzerland. Building on the intimate ambiance and a backing band of excellent musicians seemingly teleported right from an Alabama bar from the 70’s, Chan Marshall was as unpredictable as expected, but in a magical way. Trading smiles and jokes with the audience, she shone that night, constantly dancing on a thin edge, living her songs, from thick, melancholic ballads to explosions of bluesy rock.
Boris (read their amazing Pitchfork interview) also set the stage on fire with layers of guitar-powered noise. Very loud, very visual, very consciously crafted; at once very Western in style and very Japanese in spirit.
